The Adventure of Purpose

Episode 3: Exodus — The Great Deliverance

Episode Summary

Exodus tells the story of how God delivers the people of Israel from slavery in Egypt through Moses, one of the most extraordinary leaders in biblical history. Through mighty plagues, the dramatic night of the Passover, and the crossing of the Red Sea, we witness the birth of a nation and its covenant with God on Mount Sinai. It is a tale of faith, redemption, and transformation that has inspired millions of people throughout the centuries.

Episode Notes

Exodus is the second book of the Bible and forms part of the Pentateuch. Jewish and Christian tradition attributes its authorship to Moses, though modern scholars consider that it was compiled and edited over the course of several centuries. The events described are situated approximately between the 15th and 18th centuries B.C., during the period of the Egyptian New Kingdom. The book contains one of the most influential legal texts in human history: the Ten Commandments. A fascinating fact is that the word "Exodus" comes from the Greek and literally means "way out" or "departure," capturing perfectly the essence of the book.
