Episode Summary

Isaiah is one of the most important prophetic books of the Old Testament, written by the prophet Isaiah during the 8th century BC in Judah. His words transcend time, pointing with astonishing precision to the coming of Jesus Christ centuries before His birth.

Episode Notes

The book of Isaiah was written during a period of great political turmoil, when the empires of Assyria and Babylon threatened the existence of the people of Israel. Isaiah prophesied during the reigns of four kings of Judah, and his messages combine warnings of judgment with promises of restoration and salvation. Considered the "Gospel of the Old Testament," this book contains more than 300 prophetic references to the Messiah, including the famous passage of the Suffering Servant in Isaiah 53.
