Paul's letter to the Romans is the most complete exposition of the gospel of Jesus Christ in the whole Bible, in which the apostle explains in depth how a human being is justified by faith and not by works of the law. Paul develops foundational themes such as universal sin, divine grace, salvation in Christ, life in the Spirit, and the mystery of God's plan for Jews and Gentiles.
Written by the apostle Paul around AD 57 from Corinth, before his journey to Jerusalem, this epistle was addressed to the Christian community in Rome, a city Paul had not yet visited. Considered by many theologians as Paul's masterpiece, Romans has been the letter that inspired spiritual reforms throughout history, including the conversion of Augustine of Hippo and the Protestant Reformation led by Martin Luther.
